AHCA CENSUS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CDP)
NHCA/NALA has been selected by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) as a test state for implementation of a cutting-edge Internet technology designed to increase census, match consumers with the most suitable long term care provider, and automate hospital discharge processes. Our partnership in this program, called the “Census Development Program” (CDP), has the capacity to increase the number of pre-qualified referrals to your facility and increase your census.
The CDP allows potential residents and their families and hospital discharge planners to select from a thorough list of long term care needs, financing options, and lifestyle preferences. The program then compiles a list of long term care facilities that meet these specifications. For example, a daughter of a potential resident could select options such as Medicaid financing, Alzheimer’s unit, pets allowed, three meals, diabetic, spouse overnight, occupational therapy, and Spanish speaking. The program would generate a list of facilities able to meet these needs.
Additionally, the system will be used by hospital discharge planners across the country and allow them to simultaneously request admission from multiple facilities and send assessment documentation in one easy step. Although Nebraska’s participation in the program is only at its inception, Alegent Health and the Nebraska Medical Center are in the final stages of committing to participation in the program. AHCA’s goal is to bring hospitals statewide into CDP and roll out the program nationally at the AHCA Annual Convention in October 2005.
We need NHCA and NALA members to complete a simple three-page survey and fax it in to the number listed on the form. There is no cost to participate in this program by filling out the survey. Participation in CDP is provided as a valued-added benefit to members. For example, NHCA members will receive a priority over non-members when the facility list is generated, base costs of participation in the program for NHCA/NALA members are paid by AHCA, and optional Web site development features are provided at a significant discount for NHCA/NALA members.
There are optional features available in the CDP program which can be purchased at discounted prices subsidized by AHCA. For example, if you elect, you may purchase a professional Web site which includes video images of your facility taken by a professional photographer at prices far below what would be available on the market. Additionally, the system is able to schedule visits and tours, provide unlimited toll-free telephone services, and report potential customers’ impressions of your facility and other valuable marketing data. These options are detailed in the enclosed document called “Frequently Asked Questions” in question number eight.
It is important that you quickly complete the three-page survey and fax it in. If information about your facility’s services is not included in the CDP database, you will not be identified on the listing of nursing homes and/or assisted living facilities when consumers or discharge planners use the service even though you might be a perfect match for a potential resident.
