NALA Award Programs
NALA
offers many opportunities to honor facility employees with special
awards through out the year. Award ceremonies are held in conjunction
with the Mid-Year and Annual Conventions.
NFP Community Benefit Program Award Application is Now Available!
NHCA/NCAL is now accepting nominations for their second annual Not for Profit (NFP) Community Benefit Program Award, to be presented at their Annual meeting in October. New this year: NFP member facilities OR their foundations are eligible to apply. Some award selection criteria include how well the program responds to a community need, evidence of the program’s effectiveness, and the Board of Directors involvement in reviewing the plan. ANNUAL CONVENTION
The following awards will be presented during the Annual Convention:
Annual Awards
One award will be presented in each of the following five categories: Activities, Administration, Environmental Services, Nursing, and Nutrition Services. One group award that includes two or more individuals from the above categories will also be presented.
Nominations are due July 19, 2010.
Best Programming Award for National Assisted Living Week
This award is designed to recognize a facility for their successful incorporation of the 2009 National Assisted Living Week theme, Traditions of the Heart, into their activity plans and implementation resulting in outstanding special activities and community events for their residents, families, staff, and volunteers to enjoy.
Nominations are due July 19, 2010.
Volunteer of the Year Award
One volunteer in each of the following three categories will be presented: Young Adult, Adult, and Group. The state winners are submitted for the National Volunteer of the Year Award sponsored by the American Health Care Association. Nominations are due June 7, 2010.
Several Scholarships are also awarded during the Annual Convention.

MID-YEAR CONVENTION
Direct Care Staff Awards
During the Mid-Year Convention, direct care staff members are honored. Six honorees are chosen, one from each NHCA district. Honorees may hold such positions as Nursing Assistant, Personal Care Aide, Medication Aide, Restorative Aide, Activity Assistant, Dietary Aide, Housekeeping Aide, Laundry Assistant, and others directly providing resident care in a long term care facility. Nominations should not include licensed staff or department heads. Nominations can be made by any management staff of a long term care facility. Nominations should be made using the form provided.
