The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) – State Operations Manual (SOM) Chapters and Appendices http://www.cms.hhs.gov/manuals/107_som/som107index.asp At the bottom of the site page click on the Appendices Table of Contents icon to go to the Appendices page. Tip: If you use the Word File Column (recommended) when opening the specific appendices you can insert page numbers before printing to create a paginated version. Once you open the word document go to the top of the screen click on Insert and then when the page number window appears on your screen click the OK button. You can then print the entire SOM or select the appendices specific to your needs.

CMS – Guidance to State Survey Agency Directors and Regional Offices (Survey & Certification Letters) http://www.cms.hhs.gov/medicaid/survey-cert/letters.asp
Survey and certification letters are issued on the second Thursday of every month. On rare occasions, one may be issued “off cycle.” These letters contain policy instructions and updates. Letters are available on the internet within a week after issuance.

“Sharing Innovations in Quality" (SIQ) is a repository of information on clinical standards and guidelines useful to surveyors and to professionals in the nursing home setting. SIQ is sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and hosted by the American Institutes for Research (AIR).The guidelines are examined annually to assure that they are up-to-date, and new ones are added on a continuous basis.
