Since the Nebraska Health Care Foundation opened the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center in Lincoln in 2004, more than 1,200 students have received training in long term care. These trainings have covered a range of important roles, including medication aides, activities directors, social services directors, assisted living administrators, and directors of nursing. The programs serve as the primary source of training for individuals working in Nebraska’s nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Demand has created a need for more classes and, therefore, more space and teaching equipment. NHCF is asking for your participation in the Growing for Learning Campaign, which is raising funds, equipment and supplies valued at approximately $150,000 to develop an additional 4,000 square feet. This new space will include two additional classrooms and a skills lab for hands-on training. The primary goal for this space is to train and test direct care staff so they can move directly into the workforce.
The Campaign seeks financial contributions, as well as equipment and supplies needed to furnish the educational center. View the current list of equipment/supplies needs and contributors here.
