SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Nebraska Health Care Foundation offers RN, LPN, dietary, and administrator scholarships for persons who seek to upgrade their long term care education.

NHCF will award four (4) Medication Aide Scholarships for students wishing to attend Medication Aide Training through the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center. One scholarship will be awarded each quarter of the year. The scholarship winner will have six months to use the scholarship.

The following scholarships will be awarded at September's NHCA/NALA Fall Convention in Lincoln. The deadline for each of the following is TBD.

  • Four (4) $1,000 scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend an R.N. School of Nursing.
  • Four (4) $750 scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend an LPN School of Nursing.
  • Four (4) $500 scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend a Dietary or Food Service school or program.
  • One (1) scholarship will be offered to an individual wishing to attend the NALA Assisted Living Administrator Training.
  • One (1) $500 scholarship will be offered to an individual wishing to attend a Nursing Home Administrator program.

Funds for the nursing scholarships are made available through Health Care Information Systems and the Vetter Foundation in conjunction with the Nebraska Health Care Foundation. Funds for the dietary scholarships are made available through Sysco Lincoln in conjunction with the Nebraska Health Care Foundation. Funds for the Assisted Living Administrator Training scholarship and Nursing Home Administrator scholarship are made available through the Nebraska Health Care Foundation.

Scholarship applications which outline eligibility requirements and deadlines are sent to each member facility in the spring.

The original scholarship fund was established through memorials in honor of Margaret C. "Peg" Freshman and donations from Jerry Milder, a past President of the Nebraska Health Care Association.
