The Nebraska Health Care Learning Center is a private post-secondary career school licensed by the Department of Education in Nebraska. The Learning Center currently has six training programs: Social Service Designee, Activity Director, Basic Nursing Assistant, Assistant Living Administrator, Director of Nursing, and Medication Aide. The Learning Center is looking for partners interested in teaching the Nursing Assistant and/or the Medication Aide training throughout the state.

Students will be able to register for training at any of the sites across the state that best suits their schedule and their needs. They can then receive college credit for the training. Tuition will be charged to the student based on number of credit hours. Partners will be recognized training providers for the Nebraska Health Care Learning Center. These sites can then provide the training as meets facility and community needs within the specified guidelines of the Health and Human Services regulations and in agreement with the Learning Center. The sites will use their own instructors as desired to provide the training. Some facilities provide the training as a screening process prior to hiring a person for a position. This partnership allows the site flexibility and savings when providing education. Partners must be members of NHCA/NALA to participate in the partnership.Training times will be posted on the NHCA Web site, and information will be circulated to interested parties to promote the six programs. Notifications sent periodically to nursing and allied health schools will include the schedule of upcoming classes and will encourage them to check the Web site. There is also be a job-posting site for health care facilities to post open positions. This service is available for an additional fee. Partners will receive a 20 percent discount for this service. The high demand and the high turnover in health care coupled with the nursing shortage will make this an invaluable tool for both facilities and job seekers at all professional levels.

Health and Human Services will continue to perform the competency assessments for nursing assistants and medication aides. Please feel free to contact the Learning Center if you have additional questions and if you would like to participate in this unique partnership.
