Immanuel Communities is seeking a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist to work at Newport House, located at 6798 North 67th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68152. Newport House features 24 skilled nursing and rehabilitation suites, along with 72 long-term care suites.

This is a full-time position with typical work hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including one evening per week and one weekend day per month. The schedule may vary based on activity planning and organizational needs. Candidates must be available to work during their scheduled hours and should maintain flexibility to accommodate weekly schedule changes.

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.

Two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation, activities programming, or a similar role supporting older adults. 

Experience in a skilled nursing facility or senior living environment preferred.

Willing to complete Nebraska-certified “Activity Coordinator” course or certified therapeutic recreation specialist.

Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License in the respective state in which he/she resides and in Iowa, must have a chauffer’s license or ability to obtain one within 14 days of employment.

Must have an acceptable record from the respective state’s Motor Vehicle Department in which the individual’s license was issued.

Depending on location, may be required to have proof of insurance and reliable means of transportation.

Hiring is contingent on successfully passing a DOT Medical Exam and obtaining DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
