With the implementation of the Requirements of Participation, it’s more important than ever to provide quality activities based upon person-centered preferences. Activities cannot be designed as one size fits all’ or a ‘program.’ They must be developed as an approach that encompasses a team culture with creative and innovative activities, which are, adapted to meet or enhance individual abilities for quality of life. Quality engagements and interactions are the heart and soul of activity-focused care. Not only activity staff, but caregivers and volunteers need to know each person’s life story in order to engage and communicate in a meaningful manner. Come to this session to experience activity-focused care and what meaningful engagement means to each individual.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- State the definition of activity-focused care
- List at least five innovative activity ideas
- Understand the impact of the environment on activity-focused care
- Identify at least three topics for in-services on activity-focused care
- Utilize at least three resources for activity-focused care planning
This program is appropriate for activity directors, life enrichment coordinators, and activity personnel in all assisted living and nursing facilities.
