This training will discuss why older Americans are thinking about taking their life while in long-term care settings. We will review the warning signs of suicide. Learn how to ask the question about suicide in a compassionate manner and discuss who to contact and what to do if the resident needs additional intervention. Local and national resources will be provided so you are prepared.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe mental health needs for residents in long–term care
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide and the steps following
- Identify how to promote positive emotional health in all residents
