LPN IV Therapy and Basic Skills Course – December 17-18, 2019

There are new state regulations that require all licensed practical nurses to complete an IV therapy eight-hour didactic course prior to Oct. 31, 2021. All LPNs must complete the training to maintain an active Nebraska license, regardless of whether they will be performing IV therapy in their work setting. This course meets the didactic portion of the new requirement and counts toward the annual continuing education requirement for an LPN license. LPNs who have been previously licensed as LPN‑Cs or graduated after May 1, 2016, have already fulfilled the new requirements and do not need to complete the didactic and skills training.

This introductory session of the PDPM Master Class Series includes an in-depth discussion of the importance of developing and implementing key skilled nursing facility (SNF) policies and procedures to ensure compliance under PDPM. Participants will gain insight into areas where PDPM specific policies and procedures are recommended with a focus on facility processes that promote consistently accurate, patient-driven data collection methods, assessment practices, interdisciplinary team collaboration for coding, and quality oversight mechanisms. This session will provide guidance on suggested areas of SNF policy development with examples of effective process considerations and policy language for PDPM risk areas including the Interim Payment Assessment (IPA), Interrupted Stay rule, and Therapy Delivery under PDPM.
