Scholarships

The Nebraska Health Care Foundation (NHCF) awards a variety of long-term care scholarships each year.

Annual Scholarships
The following scholarships will be awarded at the NNFA/NALA Spring Convention on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in Kearney. Scholarship application forms are linked below. Be sure to follow all instructions and note appropriate deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • One (1) $1,250 Quality Summit Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the AHCA/NCAL Quality Summit, Feb. 9-11, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. Applications due Jan. 5, 2016.
  • Four (4) $1,000 RN Scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend an RN School of Nursing. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • Four (4) $750 LPN Scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend an LPN School of Nursing. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • Four (4) $500 Dietary Scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to attend a dietary or food service program. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • Three (3) $500 Nurse Advancement Scholarships are offered to licensed RNs and/or LPNs wishing to advance their nursing skills and capabilities. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • Three (3) Congressional Briefing Scholarships are offered to direct care staff individuals wishing to attend the AHCA/NCAL Congressional Briefing, May 23-24, 2016, in Washington, D.C. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • Two (2) $250 General Scholarships are offered to individuals wishing to enhance their skills and abilities. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • One (1) $250 Activity Director Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the NHCLC Activity Director Training. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • One (1) Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Training. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • One (1) Social Service Designee Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the NHCLC Social Service Designee Training. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • One (1) Assisted Living Administrator Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend the NHCLC Assisted Living Administrator Training. Applications due March 4, 2016.
  • One (1) $500 Nursing Home Administrator Scholarship is offered to an individual wishing to attend a Nursing Home Administrator program. Applications due March 4, 2016.

Funds for nursing scholarships are made available through Health Care Information Systems and The Vetter Foundation in conjunction with NHCF. Dietary scholarship funds are made available through Sysco Lincoln in partnership with NHCF. Congressional Briefing scholarship funds are made available through The Olson Group and Quality First Insurance, LLC, in partnership with NHCF.

Quarterly Medication Aide Scholarship
NHCF offers two (2) Medication Aide Scholarships per quarter to assist qualified persons who wish to become a medication aide in a nursing facility and/or assisted living community.

Quarterly Basic Nursing Assistant Scholarship
NHCF offers one (1) Basic Nursing Assistant Scholarship per quarter to assist qualified persons who wish to become a basic nursing assistant in a nursing facility and/or assisted living community.
